RTI’s Ted Dunlap Presents at the 2015 National Aviation Litigation Institute

On June 9th, RTI’s Legal Counsel and Director of Client Relations, Ted Dunlap, took part in the 2015 National Aviation Litigation Institute in New York, sponsored by the American Bar Association.  Ted joined Steve Allen of AIG Insurance along with Mark McKinnon and Diane Wilson of Dentons for a session titled “The Future of Aviation: Drones Down Low to Space Travel on High.”  The panel of experts addressed the issues they are facing in their efforts to open up the aviation and aerospace markets, whether it is challenging the U.S. Department of Transportation to permit unmanned flight in U.S. airspace or manned flight in space. In particular, Ted discussed RTI’s application to the FAA for a 333 Exemption (since granted), which allows legal operation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for commercial purposes, specifically to assist with forensic investigations and visual documentation of accident scenes.
